Green Business Norway at the Polish Environmental Awards

Green Business Norway at the Polish Environmental Awards
22. December 2009

Green Business Norway (GBN) recently took part in the presentation of environmental awards to Polish businesses in Krakow, organized by the Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation. At the event, GBN presented Norwegian innovations in the environmental technology field.

The Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation is leading a Clean Business project, which aims to make Polish industry more competitive by using environmental technology. The project focuses on how energy efficiency, reduced emissions to air and water, and waste reduction can improve a company’s ability to compete. GBN’s role in the project is to share its expertise and promote best-practice solutions in environmental technology.

Environmental awards
GBN had the task of introducing the topic From Idea to Business and describing the general conditions created by the Norwegian authorities for innovation in the SME sector. Also taking part was Sidsel Bleken from the Norwegian embassy in Warsaw, who discussed the EEA agreement, offering her views on the experience to date and the way forward for relations with Poland.

Anne Lise Gjestvang and Anna Larsson represented GBN. By working with its Polish colleagues on the Clean Business project, GBN has been able to obtain extensive information on the environmental challenges in various parts of Poland. This will pave the way to future market opportunities for GBN member businesses.

Clean Business project in 2010
In 2010 the Clean Business joint project with the Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation will focus on marketing member businesses by producing and distributing Polish business profiles. These will be posted on the websites of GBN and its Polish partner.

A Clean Business Bulletin will also be sent out monthly to the Polish network of 450 manufacturing companies. It will profile the best-practice solutions of member businesses.

Future activities in the Clean Business project will include translating the member profiles on the GBN website into Polish and providing links to the Clean Business website.
